Gilbert Favel won the first Miller Memorial Golf Tournament. Sixty golfers from Unity and surrounding towns took part in the tournament.
Larry Bojarski’s hometown rink from Wilkie won first place in the Wilkie Kinsmen’s first mid-summer bonspiel. Forty-eight rinks entered the four-day spiel.
Saskatchewan Wheat Pool began construction of a 100,000 bushel cribbed annex at their elevator in Senlac. Other renovations were planned, including installation of a new 50-ton scale with a 60-foot platform. Senlac “B” and “C” elevators were slated to be demolished.
In the Saskatchewan Major Baseball League playoffs, the Unity Cardinals were in a seven-game semifinal series against the Eston Ramblers.

Unity Bingo Hall closed its doors for good when they were unable to increase attendance despite efforts over past years. Some of the groups using bingo as a fundraiser were also having trouble finding volunteers to work.
