Family Day fun planned at Unity Museum

Unity's museum committee continues to find ways to engage the community as well as fundraise for ongoing expenses

UNITY — Unity Museum is once again hosting Family Day fun on the Feb. 21 holiday.

With people always looking for outdoor opportunities to gather, the museum group  says past years' successes initiated their desire to host a family friendly activity, once again.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides are in the works along with hot dogs and hot chocolate served in the Adanac Hall. Kids' games are being planned as well as table games will be set up in the hall. More details will be released as the event nears through social media and posters.

Engaging with the community is just one way the museum can share aspects of this community venue. COVID-19 measures will be in place.

The annual general meeting will be held Feb. 16 at the Adanac Hall. Memberships that are due will need to be paid at this time and reports will need to be ready. The budget for 2022 will be ready for discussion and approval. The AGM is important, as plans are being made for the 2022 season and beyond.

Discussion and planning will need to take place once the Highway 21 re-routing project begins and affects the current location of machinery row.

The Sunday pancake brunches are being served until the end of April and it is the main winter fundraiser. Thanks to the support of both the greenhouse and the community, the porch gnomes were another big success. Community support is always key in the ongoing need for funding that helps support maintenance and upgrades for the community's museum.

The museum offers a well laid-out multi-building history display of Unity and surrounding area and offers space for other community activities. It is a popular photo setting for special occasions. The work of the museum's committee is a big commitment and their efforts are rewarded in the support seen from Unity and surrounding area in attending, promoting, donations and volunteer work.
