Lighting the way for the community

New LEDs line the walking paths throughout the ball diamonds thanks to commitment from Unity Western Days committee.

UNITY – The Unity Western Days committee celebrated their 40th anniversary this past June with the announcement of donating back to the community. One of those commitments was to fund the installation of lights along the walking path between the ball diamonds.

Committee members Terry Smith and Deryl Richards built 12 poles with dusk to dawn LED floodlights to be installed. Nov. 9, Smith and Richards was joined by Bob Schwab to install the posts. Help from the Town of Unity Public Works Department was needed and appreciated by the men.

Boss Electric helped with wiring all 12 lights and so far the response has been great.

“We asked some community members what was needed prior to the anniversary. We wanted to be sure that we could help as much as possible,” said Smith.

Many residents and visitors who walk daily through the park welcomed the lights. With the unseasonal start to winter and the days getter darker, the lights are much appreciated.
