Luseland residents welcome Santa Day festivities

The community of Luseland continues with the annual Santa Day tradition on Dec. 11

LUSELAND - Luseland residents provided plenty of Santa-plause to organizers of the annual Luseland Santa Day festivities that took place on Dec. 11.

Organizers planned the event outdoors, knowing that outside offered the safest way to distance. Mother Nature put her best foot forward for the day. Above seasonal temperatures and a sunny sky encouraged many folks to take part in all that was offered as part of this community festive fun.

Many businesses in the community offered Santa Day specials that may have even included some treats. Luseland Credit Union was open for participants to come and see their Christmas candy land display, cast their vote on the favourite gingerbread creation and enjoy a cup of hot apple cider. Members also could enter for a draw for Luseland bucks.  Zero Clothing had a coffee bar set up and a chance to win a large gift basket.

The Luseland Museum was open for visitors who wanted to get their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus or watch the classic toy train take a ride around the track.  It was also an opportunity for residents to see the newly created 3D moose mural completed by local artist, Jared Fischer.

The snow content wasn't particularly conducive to successful toboggan runs, however a street hockey game was set up for anyone who wanted to join in. A bonfire with hot dog roast was set up nearby.

The always popular sleigh ride kept the tractor driver busy and some even enjoyed some trips with the jolly fellow himself.

Santa and Mrs. Claus were kept busy as they made sure to stop at each location that was part of the event as well as pose for many photos, even hearing Christmas wish lists from children.

Mayor Kathy Wurz said, "What an amazing day in Luseland. Thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed the Santa Day festivities. It was gorgeous enjoying the weather we had today. Krystal and I even had a chance to stop and visit Santa and Mrs. Claus and we asked Santa for everyone to have a safe and joyful holiday season with family and friends."

Several Luseland residents remarked that they are thankful, in spite of the prolonged pandemic, organizers continue to host community events such as the harvest festival held in early fall, as well as Dec. 11 Santa Day festivities. It was a great way to kick off Christmas spirit in the community of Luseland.
