Macklin kicks off hosting duties with Twilite Baseball July 8 to 10

Macklin Lake Regional Park will be home to three sets of provincial events this summer.

MACKLIN — To kick off ball playoff season. Macklin has chosen to host three events this summer. Hosting provincial events begins July 8 to10 with Twilite Baseball provincial championships.

The provincial event will include three days of baseball action at the Macklin Lake Regional Park starting July 8 at 1 p.m. Round robin games will be played July 8 and 9 with the top four teams playing July 10 in the provincial championship playoff rounds.

The host committee is welcoming six teams that include Team Sportsmen, Lanigan, Dinsmore, Assiniboia and Kipling. Opening ceremonies are part of the event taking place July 8 at 5 p.m. at Repsol Field. A food booth and beverage garden will be part of the weekend, and the best part is, free admission is offered throughout the weekend.

As with any community events, organizing committees are grateful for community sponsorship that helps with expenses for the weekend. Organizers of the Twilite Baseball Provincial event say they will donate the proceeds from the event to the Macklin Minor Ball Association.

The community takes great pride in providing the best experience for players and fans alike as well as showcasing their diamonds venue, nearby campgrounds, Macklin Lake, swim area and golf course adjacent to the diamonds.

Next on tap for the community is playing host to 13U and 18U baseball championships July 22 to 24, followed by senior baseball championships upcoming Aug. 5 to 7.

Committing to a summer full of hosting duties that relies heavily on community volunteers is a big undertaking, but organizers say the end results are worth it. Teams also love playing in front of home crowds when competing in provincial events.
