RCMP build relationships with Prairie Branches through education

Education is one of the keys in building community relationships as demonstrated bya recent RCMP visit to Prairie Branches Kerrobert day program.

KERROBERT — Prairie Branches welcomed Cst. Michael Wedel to their Kerrobert day program the week of Nov. 14.

Wedel gave an informative talk about the role of the RCMP and the many hats they need to wear, while also talking about safety and explaining the gear RCMP members wear.

Prairie Branches Executive Director Eunice Washkowsky says, “Our agency day programs (Biggar, Wilkie, Unity and Kerrobert) invite RCMP, fire departments and EMS to our activity centers to build relationships with our participants and our agency. These relationships are important during times when their services are required. It helps to reduce fears or apprehension and also gives emergency workers the opportunity to see the layout of our buildings. “

Washkowsky adds that each October and November it is Prairie Branches’ goal to invite essential services personnel into their agency facilities as there are changes in personnel, agency staffing and participants each year.

“We appreciate the education they provide, and our participants and staff enjoy gaining this knowledge and forming these relationships.”
