WILKIE — Parents and tots of Wilkie are becoming increasingly eager as work continues on the Little Seedlings Daycare Centre (LSDC).
Recently, the board of directors submitted their name to the Growing Home with BASF contest, with the hopes of winning the grand prize of $25,000. The local daycare went head-to-head with the Playfair Daycare in Moosomin and Farm it Forward in the Mossbank area, asking for locals to vote for their organization. Participants had to submit an application outlining why their organization was important to the community and how it would affect agriculture.
Although the Playfair Daycare beat them out, LSDC was still able to cash in as runners-up, adding $10,000 to be used on renovations. The daycare board said they are still working on the main level renovations and are taking applications for staff, aiming for an opening date of Nov. 1.
Members of the board continue to fundraise, including an H5 Dough to Go fundraiser coming up and the annual Casino Night in November. Other fundraisers will be posted on the Little Seedlings Daycare Center’s Facebook page.
