Unity RCMP requested to assist in North Vancouver investigation

Cut Knife Report – Aug. 18 – 24

Cut Knife RCMP received 55 calls for service Aug. 18 to Aug. 24. These files included well-being checks, reports of disturbances, reports of traffic offences, mischief, assault, assault with weapon, breach of peace, failure to comply with orders, Mental Health Act, fire, theft of vehicle, sexual assault, break and enter, Liquor Act breach, harassing communication, crime prevention, collision, theft, suspicious person, family dispute, animal call and assisting other agencies.

Notable files include:

On Aug. 18, members were called out for a well-being check on a 24-year-old female, who was intoxicated near some water. Members responded and talked with the female and determined that she was ok. Members also found a sober adult to watch over the female and let them know if there were any changes.

The same day, members located an individual known to be on warrant. The individual was verbally arrested and, while being provided with their rights, took off from members and fled in their vehicle. The individual is a 28-year-old male currently wanted for assault while choking, assault, failure to comply with probation, failure to attend court, flight from police, resist arrest and dangerous operation.

On Aug. 21, a 27-year-old female was brought to the Cut Knife detachment to make a statement about being assaulted. The statement resulted in the arrest of two individuals, a 50-year-old male who was charged with assault, resisting arrest and failure to comply with an order. Also arrested was a 27-year-old female who was charged with assault. Both individuals are currently before the courts.

On Aug. 22, members were notified of a 34-year-old male who was experiencing the symptoms of a possible overdose. Members attended and assisted EMS, who had assessed the male. Once cleared by EMS, male was transported to the Cut Knife Detachment so that he had a safe place to be.

Nine traffic stops were made, resulting in speeding tickets, warnings and roadside suspensions. Members responded to two alarms.

Keep your valuables secure. Ensure your vehicles are locked and garage doors closed when not around. Prevention is the easiest thing to do to stop thefts of opportunity from occurring.

Unity Report – Aug. 19 to 25

RCMP received four separate Mental Health Act complaints. Members spoke to the subjects of complaint.

Police received a complaint of a suspicious individual near a residence. Members spoke to the subject of complaint. No further police action required.

Members received a complaint of trespassing but there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

RCMP received a complaint of individuals ringing a residence door then running away late at night. Members patrolled but could not locate the subjects of complaint.

Members received a report of an individual damaging a vehicle but there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a complaint of theft but it was unfounded.

Members issued a 72-hour roadside suspension during a traffic stop.

Members received a request from North Vancouver RCMP to assist with an investigation.

RCMP received a complaint of uttering threats. This matter is still under investigation.

Members acted as mediators in a property dispute.

RCMP received a complaint of suspicious vehicles parked on the street. Members spoke to the subjects of complaint. No further police action required.

There were also three traffic complaints and one false alarm.

Wilkie Report

RCMP received a complaint of fraud but the complainant declined to proceed.

Police received a complaint of an individual damaging personal property. This matter is still under investigation.

Members received a complaint of theft but there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

A 20-year-old Wilkie male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle during a traffic stop.

RCMP received a report of an abandoned vehicle in a rural area. Members discovered the vehicle had been stolen from North Battleford. Insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of an individual lying on the side of the highway near Wilkie. Members executed an outstanding warrant.

Members received a complaint of an individual damaging a vehicle. This matter is still under investigation.

RCMP are investigating a fraud complaint.

Members attended the sudden death of a 59-year-old male from the Battleford area. The death was not suspicious in nature.

Police received a complaint of disturbing the peace. Members spoke to the subject of complaint and issued a verbal warning.

Members issued a seven-day roadside suspension during a traffic stop.

RCMP received a complaint of fraud. This matter is still under investigation.

There was also one traffic complaint.

Macklin Report

RCMP received a complaint of uttering threats but it was unfounded.

Members received a request from Provost RCMP detachment to assist with an investigation.

Police received multiple driving complaints near Macklin. Members attended and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle continued to drive at a high rate of speed and would not stop for the police. RCMP arrived at a single-vehicle collision on Highway 675. The lone occupant, a 33-year-old male from British Columbia, was declared deceased on scene. This matter is still under investigation.

RCMP received a complaint of theft of fuel from a local gas station. This matter is still under investigation.
