Sportsmen and women awarded at annual supper in Kerrobert

Kerrobert Wildlife Federation honours two important members who passed away this past year.

KERROBERT – The 42nd annual awards supper and fundraiser for the Kerrobert Wildlife Federation was held April 20.

Members Mark Neumeier and Mike Mitchell shared the role of MC during the evening, with an update on the local reservoir the federation manages.

The event saw roughly 270 guests of all ages come through the door, where they were treated to a variety of foods including wild meats and a large selection of prizes from raffles.

This past year, the federation took a few moments to remember two dedicated members who passed away. Bruce Augustin was one of the founding members of the Kerrobert Wildlife Federation and Kevin Meek, who was a member and volunteer for over 20 years.

The award winners were:

White-tailed Deer - Brenden Wilson, Junior Mule Deer - Hennessy Mackinnon, Lady Mule Deer - Caitlynn Alberts, Elk - Calvin Kohlman, First Deer - Kolby Reed and Quaid Mackinnon both with mule deer, Walleye - Brent Zerr, Northern Pike - Dan Cholin, Junior Northern Pike - Kaden Cholin.

President Rob Cholin was also presented with a special award from the Saskatchewan Association for Firearm Education. Lyle Bucah, who has 54 years of service to the association, was on hand to present this award. Rob was recognized for his 40 years of teaching hunter safety education within the Kerrobert and district area.

The federation would not have been able to put on this event without the help of all of the volunteers, close to 80 sponsors and donors and those who continue to attend the suppers.
