WILKIE – The Town of Wilkie has filled the role of bylaw officer with a commissionaire based out of Saskatoon. According to town officials, there was a lack of applicants for the position that needed to be filled.

Judy McHarg will be visiting the town twice a month from Saskatoon. David Ziegler, mayor of Wilkie, said more and more communities are using commissionaires to fill vacant bylaw officer positions.

“We reached out to other communities that use commissionaires and decided it would be the best option,” said the mayor.

Ziegler and McHarg have decided to work together with cleaning up some properties and the nuisance bylaw needs some rectification.

With visits from McHarg being only twice a month, residents can contact the town office who will take note any issues and forward those to the appropriate authority, added Ziegler.
