Unity and District Heritage Museum gearing up for another Family Day celebration

An unexpected expense arose for Unity's museum committee when a blower motor on the office fan needed replacing.

UNITY — The success of past Family Day fun activities held at Unity and District Heritage Museum inspired the committee to organize another event for 2023.

Residents and visitors are invited to the museum grounds Feb. 20, for food and activities. A museum spokesperson said they will have more details on posters and social media once the event is finalized. The snow that has accumulated throughout winter so far has created a winter wonderland environment.

The weekly Sunday pancake brunches continue and museum organizers say they are happy with the support they have received. This is their biggest fundraiser of the year and aids the museum committee a great deal with funding for hall upkeep.

An unexpected expense arose when it was discovered the blower motor needed to be replaced in the office, but the group is thankful that nothing froze inside during the incident.

The public are welcome and encouraged to attend the annual general meeting Feb. 15 at the Adanac Hall. There is a list of items to deal with for the upcoming year as well as activities to plan. While the committee looks forward to a new summer season, they are always looking for new members to help keep the museum maintained and operating for all to enjoy.

Resumés are now being accepted for summer workers for the 2023 season and they can be emailed to unitymuseum@outloook.com. The job provides opportunities for guiding visitors, cleaning and public relations.
