Wilkie Fire Department benefits from donation

Viterra presents donation to WFD for important equipment upgrades
Donation Wilkie Fire Department from Viterra (002)
Wilkie Fire Chief, Randy Elder, accepts this generous donation from Yegor Kolesnik, Facility Manager of Viterra.

WILKIE - It was a wonderful Christmas gift for the Wilkie and District Fire Department. Viterra facility in Wilkie donated $2,500 to WFD, with Fire Chief Randy Elder accepting on behalf of their organization.

Yegor Kolesnik, Facility Operations Manager of Viterra in Wilkie, presented the donation and was happy their business could assist this division of Wilkie's protective services.

This donation will be used to upgrade the department's SCBA (self contained breathing apparatuses). This equipment is important for protecting the FD members from airborne contaminants. SCBA is also imperative for allowing firefighters to take direct action in mitigating an issue, such as rescuing an occupant from a burning building.

The Wilkie and District Fire Department trains and practices all year in preparation for any call they receive. Having up-to-date and proper equipment is vital in the protection and assistance of firefighters, which also translates into their abilities to save lives.
