Bernadette Wolfe, better known as Ruby Blackbird passed away surrounded by loved ones in Saskatoon, Sk. Ruby, who had the nicknames of 'Awas Ruby' and 'Kanube', had many friends and she loved and cherished her pet Apples. She liked to watch scary and action movies, going to town, playing cards, dice, and board games. Ruby loved to dance and her favourite colour was blue. She loved her grandson "My Boss", Jordon Merasty-Blackbird. Her favourite saying was "By Poof"! She was raised by both Sharon Cooper and her mother, Lillian Blackbird.
Ruby will be forever loved and deeply missed by her Children Savanah Blackbird and Aleisha Blackbird; Her Grandchildren Illidan Stanley, Kamari Stanley, Kaylee Watchmaker, Arya Blackbird-Swiftwolfe; Partner Ken Swindler; Sisters Laurraine Standingwater, Lorna Blackbird, Georgina Gaudry, Danny & Cathy Warkentin,Veronica Paddy, Pammy Paddy, Ramona Paddy, Claudine Paddy, Vivian Paddy, and Phylis Paddy; Brothers Curtis Opikekew, Clifford Wolfe, Aaron Blackbird, Jesse Paddy, Cameron Jack (Marcy); Auntie Catherine Horse; the Paddy, Wapass, Jimmy, Thunderchild, and Blackbird families; and numerous cousins and family in Cochin.
Ruby is predeceased by her Parents Lillian Blackbird and Gordon Wolfe; an unborn son; Sister Carrie Miller; Brother Wesley Blackbird; Nephew Sheldon Standingwater; Aunties Georgina Paddy, Josephine Jack; Uncles Charlie Paddy, Francis Paddy; Grandson Ronnie King; and other family members too numerous to mention.
A funeral service was held Monday, June 30, 2025 in Thunderchild First Nation, Saskatchewan.
