The family of Russell “Fergy” Ferguson is saddened to announce his passing on July 19, 2025, at the age of 94.
Russell was born in Kindersley, SK on December 20, 1930, to Rena and Everton. He spent his childhood growing up in Kindersley. Russell began his career with the Department of Natural Resources on May 6, 1950, where he went to Big River, SK to train at Bodmin Tower for two and a half weeks. He married the love of his life, Phyllis on July 10, 1954. They started their life together at the old headquarters for Natural Resources, not far from Dorintosh, SK. During his career, he adventured all over Saskatchewan until his retirement in 1987. Russell settled down in Moose Jaw, SK and became volunteering in small local bands as the bass fiddle, at the Western Development Museum A/C restorers and at the Rotary Club.
Russell was predeceased by his parents Rena and Everton Ferguson and his wife Phyllis. He will be sadly missed by his children Nancy (Gary) Trumbley, and Tim Ferguson; grandchildren David (Myranda) Trumbley and Dawn Dubois; great-grandchildren Madyson, Jayden, Danica, Grayson; as well as nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Tea will be held on July 31, 2025, at 2:00 PM at W.J. Jones and Son Reception Hall, 474 Hochelaga St W, Moose Jaw.
