Heat, smoke and thunderstorms in the air Thursday night

Thunderstorms are moving across the province once again, with both watches and warnings issued.

SASKATCHEWAN — Heat, thunderstorms and air quality alerts are on the menu for Thursday evening. 

Both Environment Canada and SaskAlert have issued warnings of extreme heat for the Moose Jaw area and west. Environment Canada says temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 16 degrees Celsius are expected for the next two days. A cold front crossing southern Saskatchewan Thursday night will bring cooler temperatures and relief from the excessively hot weather, says the national weather forecaster.

Meanwhile, more thunderstorms are moving across the province, with both watches and warnings issued. The Prince Albert National Park area under a warning for a thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, nickel to ping pong ball-sized hail and heavy rain. Another warning is on for the Carlyle area.

Air quality alerts are also in place in the Bufffalo Narrows area and the Cree Lake area.
