SASKATOON - The highlight of the stock car season in Saskatchewan is again upon us with the return of the NASCAR Canada Series to Saskatoon.

The NASCAR Canada 250 Presented by Leland Industries runs this week at the Sutherland Automotive Speedway.

The race will serve as the main event of two nights of racing at the track. The first night is the NASCAR Kickoff which goes tonight, with live entertainment followed by racing from pro late models/ street stocks, pro trucks and super stocks on the track.

The NASCAR Canada Series stock cars will take the green flag Wednesday night as the feature event.

The NASCAR Canada Series event has employed some different formats over the years in Saskatoon, including a two-race doubleheader format for a period of time. This year, they plan to run the full 250 laps as they did in 2024, and will also return to their traditional and unique-to-NASCAR midweek spot on the calendar after holding the race on a Saturday last year.

It will be the fourth NASCAR Canada race of the season, with drivers coming off a hotly-contested event this past weekend at Edmonton International Raceway in Wetaskiwin.

At that NAPA 300 event, it was Marc-Antoine Camirand who took the checkered flag, with Donald Theetge second and Kevin Lacroix third.

The win gives Camirand the points lead in the championship with the season not even at the halfway point yet. Camirand is coming into Sutherland Automotive Speedway hoping to keep his lead, and is also looking to defend his Saskatoon title after winning at the oval last year.

The NASCAR Canada event also marks the midway point of the season for Sutherland Automotive Speedway, which will be back in action with Saturday races from July 19 and running on most weekends until Sept. 20.
