Effective July 14 and until July 31, SaskTel will automatically waive all wireless data overage charges for SaskTel customers living in communities evacuated due to the wildfires.

REGINA – SaskTel has announced the extension of support measures to help those who have been evacuated this month due to the wildfires currently burning in Northern parts of the province.

"“While some Saskatchewan families are forced to be away from their homes and communities, we are working to ensure they can stay connected without incurring extra costs by waiving data overage fees and crediting SaskTel maxTV and home internet charges,” said Jeremy Harrison, minister responsible for SaskTel.

Effective July 14 and until July 31, SaskTel will automatically waive all wireless data overage charges for SaskTel customers living in communities evacuated due to the wildfires. SaskTel will also credit customers for their SaskTel Internet, maxTV Stream and Home Phone services. These supports will be available to residents while their community is evacuated due to the wildfires.

Currently, the supports apply to those living in northwestern communities of Beauval, English River First Nation (La Plonge #192 and Patuanak), the Resort Subdivision of Lac La Plonge, Jans Bay, as well as Kinoosao in the northeastern part of the province. As the fire situation can change rapidly, the eligible communities may change over the coming days. For the most up to date list of eligible communities, please visit www.sasktel.com/wildfires.
