EASTERN SASKATCHEWAN - Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for much of eastern Saskatchewan due to wildfire smoke.

According to the advisory, issued July 23, wildfire smoke is causing elevated values of fine particulate matter in some locations.

A shift in the winds is expected to clear the surface smoke by the evening of July 24, however, locations near active fires will continue to experience poor air quality.

The city of Regina and 124 RMs are affected by the advisory.

It's the latest advisory due to wildfire smoke. An air quality warning was issued July 22 for much of the province, and was still in effect in some areas until the afternoon of July 23.

SaskToday will have updates as they become available.
