REGINA — The City of Regina has lifted its voluntary water restrictions.

The restrictions were placed last Thursday after new processes at the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant (BPWTP) caused less water to be produced.

This led to Regina turning on its emergency wells, which saw half of its supply used up in two days. In response, the city decided to implement restrictions to manage water usage for a limited time.

Now, residents can return to regular water usage, including watering lawns and washing vehicles.

Regina will also resume services, including street sweeping and reopening spray pads.

As the BPWTP continues to undergo upgrades, Regina will be monitoring the situation and implementing any future measures, including the usage of emergency water wells.

Residents are also encouraged to continue practicing water conservation habits without any restrictions.

Upgrades at the BPWTP are expected to be completed in 2026.
