Firearms charges laid following traffic stop in Regina

REGINA – Two men are facing charges following a traffic stop in the area of Retallack Street and Second Avenue on Aug. 14.

During the traffic stop, officers discovered the driver had outstanding warrants and placed them under arrest. A search of the vehicle revealed two firearms, one was loaded. A second individual, a passenger in the vehicle, was taken into custody without incident.

Gary Riddell, 34, is charged with  possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and failing to comply with conditions of a release order.

Riddell will make his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on Sept. 25.

Tyler Pelletier, 28, is charged with storing a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to. Regulations, possession of a loaded restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, and possession of a weapon.

Pelletier made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on Aug. 15.
