Four charged after serious assault in Regina

REGINA – Two men and two male youths have been charged in connection with a violent assault that left one man hospitalized with multiple stab wounds over the weekend.

Regina Police Service (RPS) officers were called to Regina General Hospital around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 16 after an injured man arrived with serious stab wounds. Investigators later identified a residence in the 1800 block of Ottawa Street as being linked to the assault.

RPS SWAT and patrol officers surrounded the home and ordered all occupants outside. Multiple individuals exited and four were arrested and charged. Police executed a search warrant after the arrests. They seized an expandable baton, a C02 pistol, a Taser, a large knife, a machete, ammunition, and a firearms magazine.

Among those charged is a 14-year-old male, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and failing to comply with a release order. A 17-year-old male is charged with assault causing bodily harm and failing to comply with a court order.

The two men were identified as 29-year-old Leroy Redwood and 19-year-old Gregory Blind. Redwood is charged with assault with a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. Blind is charged with aggravated assault and obstruction.

All four accused made their first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on Monday morning.
