REGINA – Beginning at 9:30 a.m. today, the Regina Police Service SWAT team will be conducting a high-intensity training exercise outside the Regina General Hospital (RGH). The drill will include rappelling maneuvers, with officers visible on and around the building. Multiple police vehicles will also be stationed in the vicinity.

As RGH is an active healthcare facility, the public and media are asked to refrain from photographing or filming the exercise. Additionally, airspace surrounding the hospital has been restricted to ensure the safe operation of the STARS air ambulance. Drone use in the area is prohibited.

“Consistent, collaborative training with our community partners and stakeholders is important to ensure everyone is prepared and knows what their role is in the case of a real emergency,” said Aimée Massé, Communication Strategist, Public Information & Strategic Communication, in a media release.

“We thank the Regina General Hospital, the Saskatchewan Health Authority and our many other community partners for working with us to help keep our community safe.”
