REGINA - The City of Regina's voluntary water restriction is still in effect.

Residents are encouraged to conserve water by reducing shower time, running the dishwasher and washing machine only when fully loaded, avoiding watering lawns and gardens, delaying washing vehicles, and delaying filling of hot tubs and pools.

The restriction was announced May 30 by Deputy City Manager of City Operations Kurtis Doney, who explained the temporary water supply shortage was due to ongoing upgrades at the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant.

The city said in its May 30 release that the voluntary measures were expected to last only a few days.

The city also said that to maintain service levels as much as possible, it was using its emergency water wells. The wells provide safe drinking water, said the city, however, residents may notice some discoloration.
