REGINA — Strong northwest winds are sweeping through southern Saskatchewan this morning in the wake of a potent cold front, Environment Canada warns.
Winds will be strongest in the Wascana Basin later this morning through the afternoon, with gusts reaching around 90 km/h. The high winds are expected to ease during the early evening hours.
Officials caution that damage to buildings, such as roof shingles and windows, may occur. Gusty winds can also harm soft shelters, tents and awnings at outdoor events, and may toss loose objects or break tree branches. Utility outages are possible.
