REGINA — The Terry Fox National Ride of Hope made its way through Regina on Tuesday.
The fundraiser was founded in honour of Terry Fox, a Canadian athlete who attempted to cross Canada on a run, raising money for cancer research.
Fox's journey ended in Thunder Bay, Ont., after cancer spread through his lungs.
A pair of nine cyclists, including Terry’s brother, Darrell, are making a 7000km coast-to-coast trip across the country with a goal of raising $1 million towards cancer research.
Members of the Regina Police Service (RPS) and RCMP escorted the cyclists along Victoria Ave. E as the group heads further east. The fundraiser started in Vancouver with plans to end at St. John's, N.L.
As of June 17, the Terry Fox National Ride of Hope has raised nearly $845,000.
