Air Support Unit, tire deflation devices used to stop vehicle

SASKATOON - A 31-year-old man is facing a number of charges following an evade police incident early this morning.

At approximately 3 a.m., June 30, patrol officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a black Chevrolet Malibu in the area of 33rd Street and Avenue F.

The driver refused to stop and began driving in a dangerous manner.

Members of the Air Support Unit were able to track the vehicle from above and direct ground units.

Officers were able to deploy tire deflation devices and stopped the vehicle.

The driver then attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended a short distance away at 41st Street and Avenue B North.

The vehicle had been reported stolen.

The man is facing six charges including impaired driving, evade police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
