Bear spray and a knife result in charges in Saskatoon

A 54-year-old man had been threatened with bear spray by a male suspect before he fled the scene.

SASKATOON — Another incident involving bear spray has been reported by Saskatoon police. This incident also involved a knife.

At approximately 9:30 on the morning of July 11, Saskatoon Police Services received a report of an altercation taking place between two men in the 200 block of Avenue V North. 

Upon arrival, police learned that a 54-year-old man had been threatened with bear spray by the male suspect before he fled the scene. It was also reported that the suspect may be armed with a knife.

Officers were able to locate the suspect a short distance away. The 43-year-old man was found to be in possession of a knife and bear spray. He is now facing charges of:

  • assault;
  • uttering threats;
  • possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace (x2);
  • carrying a concealed weapon (x2); and
  • obstructing a peace officer.
