SASKATOON — Members of the Serious Assault Unit are investigating assaults, including with bear spray, on two people over the weekend, as well as a nearby attack on a woman that put her in the hospital.
At approximately 1:20 p.m., July 26, police were called to the 400 block of Avenue S South where a woman was reportedly in the street, seeking assistance for the effects of bear spray. Upon arrival, the woman told officers she had been in the 400 block of Avenue R South with a male when they were assaulted and robbed by unknown persons.
As they were taking her statement, police received another call for service regarding the injured male. He was located inside a home in the 400 block of Avenue R South. He reported being outside when he was struck with a hammer and bear-sprayed by the same people.
Police say he also reported being bitten by a large dog when he attempted to flee inside the residence. He was transported to hospital for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
