SASKATOON — A unique community in Saskatoon continues to take shape. Nestled in Holmwood in the city’s east end, Brighton sits amidst hundreds of acres of natural beauty.
Brighton connects residents to parkland, play spaces, restaurants and shopping essentials.
The 41 acres of wetlands in Brighton are not just a separate feature but are intertwined with the community’s overall design, which includes parks, pathways and recreational areas. Accessible to residents, these spaces feature walking and biking trails, educational plaques and lookout points.

The newer Saskatoon community is one of several planned for the Holmwood Suburban Development area, with construction still underway.

It is bordered by College Drive to the north, Eighth Street East to the south, College Park East to the west and southwest, and McOrmond Drive to the east.
When completed, Brighton is slated to be primarily residential, with some commercial development on its north and south sides.
On its website, the neighbourhood touts “Thinking small on a big scale.” Brighton is expected to one day be Saskatoon’s largest neighbourhood.
The community is designed for convenience, offering shopping, dining, recreation and schools within easy reach. It also hosts events such as Jazz in the Park, outdoor yoga and other gatherings to foster community spirit.
“At Brighton, green space and water views are part of everyday life. Pathways connect you to parks of all sizes right from your front door, and beautiful boardwalks weave through the wetlands, where birds, frogs, and other aquatic animals make their home. And whether your kids love sports, the playground or rocking an agility course, inspired opportunities for play abound,” the website states.

Brighton is purpose-built to provide residents with opportunities to engage and connect. The neighbourhood balances the needs of motorists, pedestrians and cyclists with a network of pedestrian pathways linking green spaces and gathering places. Traffic loop systems are designed for efficiency and ease.

Brighton Core Park is a neighbourhood destination where families and the community can gather to play, relax and connect. Asphalt pathways link amenities including a spray park, adult fitness challenge course, multiple play structures, amphitheatre, toboggan hill, boardwalk and a large plaza with seating, picnic tables and bicycle racks. Over nine kilometres of trails connect the core park to other green spaces, pocket parks and neighbourhood amenities, including potential elementary and high school sites and a future off-leash recreation area.

Wilson’s Lifestyle Centre offers the well-known Wilson’s Greenhouse along with a variety of shops and the Stoked Centre, a family-friendly entertainment venue featuring an indoor go-kart track and zip line. Landmark Cinemas is another popular entertainment option in the Brighton Marketplace.
