SASKATOON — During every construction season, the City of Saskatoon aims to reduce disruptions and keep traffic moving as smoothly and safely as possible while necessary road work is underway.
With 2025 construction now in full swing, the city is reminding residents of the tools available to help them stay up to date.
This year, several investments are being made into Saskatoon roads and to vital supports like the Broadway Bridge and upcoming Link system. City crews responsible for maintaining roads every spring have been out for several weeks already, street sweeping, re-painting road lines and filling potholes, to name a few.
Saskatoon.ca/construction is the one-stop shop for all things relating to city-led road and water main construction. It is where the most up-to-date information about significant and impactful construction projects is, and the page has several useful links:
- This link goes to the News section of the City of Saskatoon website where the Daily Road Report is posted every weekday afternoon. The report shows where construction on Saskatoon’s busiest roadways is happening, and residents can subscribe to receive it and other News Releases and PSAs through e-mail.
Road Restrictions and Construction Projects Map
- This interactive map shows where there’s active construction, construction upcoming later this year and tentative construction planned in the coming years. All projects and timelines listed are subject to change.
- Anyone can mark pothole locations on this map. City crews will assess reported locations.
- This page includes information about how to merge and navigating through construction zones using the zipper merge technique. Zipper merging keeps traffic moving and is more efficient for drivers in both lanes.
- Every construction work zone is a workplace, whether it’s on a road, sidewalk or back lane. Visit this page to see a refreshed Respect Work Zones marketing campaign, reminding us to be patient and cautious when travelling through work zones.
Saskatoon Transit may be affected by road construction. Sometimes bus stops are temporarily moved and sometimes traffic slows down due to construction which creates delays. Transit service alerts and real-time bus information are available on third-party apps like Transit and Google Maps Transit.
Be cautious when travelling near work zones. Obey signs and watch for workers on the other side of the pylons. Every worker is someone’s someone, and we all deserve to get home safe.
