Man tries to light cars and trees on fire in Saskatoon

The suspect, who was already on probation, was charged with attempted arson

SASKATOON — A 47-year-old man who was on probation is facing charges following an attempted arson on Friday.

At approximately 1:50 p.m., July 25, police were called to Diefenbaker Drive and Worobetz Place. Witnesses reported that a man was armed with a burning stick and attempting to light passing vehicles on fire. The man was then witnessed entering a nearby park and attempting to light trees on fire.  

He was taken into custody and is charged with resisting arrest, attempted arson, possession of an incendiary device and breach of probation.
