Saskatoon firefighters extinguish wildland fire

Saskatoon firefighters quickly contained a wildland fire near Circle Drive on Aug. 25, preventing further damage and reporting no injuries.

Saskatoon Fire Department crews are ready to respond to fires and other incidents that need their assistance.

SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Fire Department used hand lines to extinguish a wildland fire on Circle Drive near Clancy Drive on Aug. 25.

SFD dispatch received the report at 11:40 a.m., with the first arriving crews reporting heavy black smoke and flames visible in the trees in an area that was approximately 15 by 20 metres.

The quick response of Saskatoon fire crews in extinguishing the fire prevented further damage in the area. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters during and after the incident.

The SFD provided no further information on whether the incident is being investigated to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
