SASKATOON — Two residents are safe thanks to the quick response of the Saskatoon Fire Department early Friday morning.

SFD dispatch received a call at 1:30 a.m. reporting a house fire on the 3100 block of Milton Avenue. First-arriving crews were informed that people might still be inside the structure.

Firefighters advanced hose lines at a left-side window, where smoke and flames were visible. Another crew entered the house to search for occupants.

Two people were found and safely evacuated by firefighters and handed over to colleagues for first aid.

Firefighter paramedics assessed the two patients and transferred them to ambulance crews for further care.

Fire crews checked the structure for hot spots and set up fans to remove smoke and any lingering toxins.

Once the scene was deemed safe, it was turned over to a fire investigator, who will determine the cause, origin and estimate the extent of the damage.
