Saskatoon police charge knife-wielding 12-year-old girl

Police say the accused and victim are known to each other. No one was physically injured during the incident.

SASKATOON — A 12-year-old girl is facing charges following an incident involving a knife at a city park Wednesday, says the Saskatoon Police Service.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., Aug. 7, police were called to the park in the 100 block of Campion Crescent. Witnesses reported seeing the girl threaten an 11-year-old boy with a knife, before the boy was able to flee. Officers located the girl at a nearby home where she was found to be in possession of a knife.  

She is now facing charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and carrying a concealed weapon.
