Saskatoon police respond to two stabbings early Friday

Two men were transported to hospital for stabbing injuries that occurred in two separate incidents.

SASKATOON — Two separate stabbings early Friday in Saskatoon have sent two men to hospital.

At around 1:30 a.m. on July 25, police were called to the 200 block of 21st Street East for a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from what was believed to be a life-threatening stab wound; he was transported to hospital by paramedics for treatment of his injury.

Police say investigation determined that the stabbing had occurred on a path near a wooden gazebo along Spadina Crescent East and that the suspect was believed to be unknown to the victim.

Officers checked the area; however, the suspect was not located. Police are continuing to investigate.

The second stabbing was discovered when, at around 4 a.m. on July 25, police were called to a residence in the 300 block of Avenue J South for a report of an unknown problem.

Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from two stab wounds inside. He was transported to hospital by paramedics for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. Further investigation found that the victim had been sitting on a bench in the 1100 block of 20th Street West when he was approached from behind and stabbed. It is unknown if the suspect(s) knew the victim.
