Stabbed man found lying in the street in Saskatoon

SASKATOON — A 39-year-old Saskatoon man is being treated in hospital following an assault and stabbing.

There were two calls that led to locating the victim. At approximately 9:30 p.m., Aug. 17, police were called to the area of 22nd Street West and 1st Avenue to an initial report of a robbery in progress. Upon arrival, say police, a witness told officers that they witnessed three or four males in ski masks assaulting another male. The suspects and victim left the scene before police arrived.

Later, at approximately 3 a.m., Aug. 18, officers responded to a report of an injured man lying in the street at 1st Avenue and 21st Street East. Police say they located a man suffering from a stab wound and matching the description of the victim in the earlier incident. He was transported to hospital where he is reportedly in stable condition. 

Police are continuing to investigate.
