SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Monday afternoon, Aug. 4, on Valley Road. SFD Dispatch received the report at 4 p.m.
Two engines, two water tankers, two brush trucks and the Battalion Chief responded to a grass fire on a property off Valley Road.
First arriving crews observed a large wildland fire on the said property, and immediately deployed handlines and hose reels to combat the blaze and bring it under control.
Fire crews from the Pike Lake Fire Department and the Delisle and District Fire and Rescue were called as mutual aid to assist in the extinguishment.
The fire was brought under control through the combined efforts of all three fire departments, and there were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters in the incident.
The fire crews remain on scene. No other information was provided by the SFD, such as the size of the grass fire and whether there were damaged properties.
