Update on Silverwood Paddling Pool, subsequent leaks discovered

Splish splashing once again at Silverwood Heights Paddling Pool after repairs completed

SASKATOON — Silverwood residents were happy to learn that the paddling pool repairs are completed but they didn’t come without challenges.

An earlier story on SaskToday.ca outlined issues that resulted in the summer recreation spot being closed temporarily.

The City of Saskatoon, Facilities Management Department, responded July 22 with the following update: “The pool is operational as of Monday, July 21. Initial repairs were completed on July 15, as planned. However, another leak was found on July 16 when the water was turned on. Crews had to dig deeper to repair this other leak. Subsequently, another leak was found and repaired in the building for the pool equipment. Following tests to ensure everything was working, the paddling pool is now operational. The hole that was dug to repair the original line is partially filled and remains fenced off. Crews are waiting for sunnier weather to help dry out the area before they can complete the backfill and remove the fencing. “

City parks and recreation’s website shows there are 30 paddling pools throughout Saskatoon, along with 23 spray parks.
