SASKATOON — The Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) is set to host its 27th annual Compensation Institute on Wednesday at TCU Place in Saskatoon.
The free, daylong event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and brings together WCB staff, employers, workers and industry partners to discuss developments in the workers’ compensation system, workplace safety and injury prevention. Registration is required to attend in person.
This year’s institute will feature a range of presentations from WCB leaders and staff, covering key topics such as return-to-work challenges, industry safety priorities, an update on the WCB’s 2023–2028 Fatalities and Serious Injuries Strategy, planning WCB appeals and understanding premium rates.
Keynote speakers include Tara Elliott, a Regina safety co-ordinator who lost her father in a workplace incident and now volunteers with Threads of Life to support families affected by workplace tragedies, and TSN broadcaster Michael Landsberg, who will speak about his personal experience with mental illness. Landsberg is a prominent mental health advocate and founder of the #SickNotWeak charity.
