Save the date: Assiniboia 2024 event announcements offers unforgettable experiences

Assiniboia's Southland Co-op Centre will host two big performances in 2024

ASSINIBOIA--The first year of operation for Assiniboia’s Southland Co-op Centre was a big one and included not only community events typical to an arena but also the big-ticket event, Saskatchewan Country Music Awards.

Feb. 5, a big announcement was made that Assiniboia, specifically, Southland Co-op Centre, will be host to two big events. April 20, Streetheart, with special guest Tyler Lewis, will be rocking the rink. July 25, the popular Australian show, Thunder Down Under, will be performing in Assiniboia.

Steph VanDeSype, Assiniboia’s Community Wellness Manager, says she knows that having big ticket events are great for town as it fills the hotels, restaurants and stores, and bring an energetic buzz to town as well as adds some positive exposure for the community across the province.

VanDeSype said, “The Southland Co-op Centre is a premium event centre and we're excited to put ourselves on the world map as one of the best facilities to perform in, and the Town of Assiniboia as one of the best Communities to stay in!”

“Streetheart is a great band that will blow the roof off the Southland Co-op Centre, and we're excited to see the dance floor full, and everyone singing along to their favorite classic songs. The night will round out with a cabaret with our favorite local, Tyler Lewis, who be keeping the party going”

VanDeSype affirms that Thunder From Down Under, an Australian based show, has pegged Assiniboia as the only Saskatchewan stop this summer and she expects these tickets will sell out very fast for the July 25 show.

Not wanting to waste a moment of the excitement the Feb. 5 announcement generated, VanDeSype said tickets for Streetheart will go on sale Feb. 6 at noon, while Thunder Down Under tickets will go on sale Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. Tickets will be available on Sasktix.ca

The popular band, Streetheart, returned to playing live shows in 2019 after a two-year hiatus, to honor and mark the passing of lead vocalist, Kenny Shields, who passed away in 2017. The band began in 1977 and have always prided themselves on presenting music with the highest level of skill, energy and execution to continue the band’s long tradition of music excellence. Streetheart commits to delivering top quality shows to their audiences.

Thunder From Down Under offers an exhilarating and electrifying extravaganza, world renowned Australian male revue. Ready to set the stage on fire with their captivating performances and infectious energy.

The anticipation of the Feb. 5 announcement was high and the excitement as a result of these upcoming shows to Assiniboia was evident as a flurry of conversations were instantly created in the community as residents talked of more great things coming to SCC, as well as wanting to share the news with friends and family in neighboring communities and across the province.
