A total of 12,772 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan the week ending February 24. This is down from 13,406 head sold the previous week, and down from 17,210 head the same week a year ago.

If you missed the Pop Up Gallery art show in February, the works of media and fiber artist Rita St. Amant are on display during March and April at the Kay Cristo Room in the Assiniboia Library organized by the Assiniboia and District Arts Council.

Sara Kesslering, a Grade 12 student from Assiniboia Composite High School, was selected by the RBC branch in Assiniboia as the recipient of the Canada 150 initiative called Make150Count.

The Notekeu League championship final between the Assiniboia Rebels and the Mossbank Blades got underway on March 3 and 4 with both teams coming away with a win. In game one, Mossbank won 4-3 at the Assiniboia Civic Centre on March 3.

With a mumps outbreak in neighbouring Manitoba and Alberta, Saskatchewan public health officials are on the alert for any appearance of the virus. Mumps is an infection caused by a virus.

Mossbank has one of the fastest growing populations in the province. The town follows only Saskatoon and Regina according to the Saskatchewan 2016 Census. The community has grown 10.

St. Paul’s United Church was one of the first venues to open the Canada 150 celebrations in Assiniboia. The parish held its Canada 150 banquet on February 24 and welcomed 100 guests for the meal. This event was a fundraiser for the church.

The Assiniboia and District Chamber of Commerce held its Lunch and Learn on February 23, which was sponsored by B & A Petroleum.

Firefighting training was held for the members of the South Central Protective Services Association at the Assiniboia Fire Hall on February 10 and 11.

The Assiniboia Senior Rebels and the Mossbank Blades hockey teams are headed to the championship final. Both teams finished in the top two spots during the regular season in the Notekeu League.
