Assiniboia and district have been enjoying unseasonably warm weather in February with highs above zero and reaching above 10 Celsius.

A total of 11,178 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan the week of February 10, down from 12,900 head sold the previous week, and down from 15,855 head sold the same week a year ago, reported Saskatchewan Agriculture.

Saskatchewan Roughrider slotback Nic Demski brought the “Imagine no Bullying” message to students at Assiniboia Elementary School, Lafleche School and Gravelbourg Elementary School on February 13 and 14.

The Royal Canadian Legion branch in Assiniboia held its annual Valentine’s Strawberry Tea on February 11 at the 55 Club building in Assiniboia. There were approximately 75 people attending the event, which included food, music and a door prize draw.

The Screening Program for Breast Cancer mobile bus stops in Assiniboia from February 6 to March 3 at the Assiniboia Civic Centre. The program operates a mobile bus that provides screening mammograms to women in rural and northern Saskatchewan.

The Friends of the Home is a small group of volunteers who devote their time to making long term care homes a better place to be for the residents in Assiniboia.

The Middle Coast begins a series of performances across Saskatchewan in late-February and March, and they stop in Assiniboia at the Prince of Wales Centre on March 3.
