Observer's long-time Alida writer steps aside, thankful for contributions of others

A number of events will be happening in the village.
Alida Weekly News
The latest happenings in Alida.

ALIDA - Act One Productions is hosting another drama performance March 7-10.

They are presenting A Fine Monster You Are! If interested in reserving tickets, please contact Linda at 306-577-3155 for cocktail theatres on March 7 and 8, or for dinner theatre on March 9. There were only 10 seats left for the dinner theatre as of a few days ago.

Don’t be disappointed. Hurry to get your reserved tickets now. Matinee tickets for March 10 are only sold at the door. Doors open at 1 p.m. Hope we see you there. They also have their $1,000 fundraiser tickets available from club members, at the store, café, credit union, post office and during drama week.

The Alida Curling Club is hosting their annual Oilmen & Farmers Bonspiel on Feb. 2 and 3. Please note that 50 per cent of a team must be oilfield or farming-related. There will be a special supper at the rink on Feb. 3, so I hope to see you there. Donations of door prizes, event prizes or cash will be greatly appreciated.

The Golden Gate Centre is open on Wednesday mornings for jigsaw puzzles, crafts, visiting, coffee, etc., and in the evenings card games may be held (membership are needed).

Also on Fridays at the rink, there is a supper available, and card games, curling and skating are available fairly regularly.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. Enjoy the special day.

Just to keep you all in the loop, after much self-debating, I have decided to give up this column in the Observer. However I will once again pass on my appreciation to all who have helped me by keeping me informed of events and happenings held within their family circle and in the community by sending me pictures and more. I really appreciated that.

Your input made my column interesting for those who read it. I also appreciate all the great comments I received about the column. It made it all worthwhile. I will probably continue to submit the odd event as well as pictures as they occur here at Alida.

Thanks again for everything, both here at home and at the Observer. It was a great experience.
