Redvers wins in double OT, forces Game 3 in provincial final

The Senior D provincial final is going to a Game 3 on March 31 in Redvers.

REDVERS - Hockey Saskatchewan's senior D provincial final is going to a third and deciding game.

The Redvers Rockets rallied to defeat the Macklin Mohawks 3-2 in double overtime on March 30 to force Game 3, which will be played on March 31 in Redvers, starting at 3 p.m. The winner of the game will capture the provincial championship.

Kenton Miller's second of the game was the winning goal partway through double overtime was the winner. Brady Gaudet also scored for Redvers. Thomas Bauche was the Rockets' goalie. 

Hunter Steinhubel and Spencer Bast had Macklin's goals. Trevor Martin was in goal for the Mohawks. 

Macklin led 1-0 after the first period and 2-1 through two. Redvers tied the game in the third. After the first 10-minute overtime settled nothing, there was an intermission and Redvers scored the winner in the second extra-time frame. 

The Mohawks won Game 1 4-3 in overtime on March 23 in Macklin.

Redvers is trying to become the first Big Six team to win a provincial championship since the Weyburn Devils won the AAA crown in 2006.
