ESTEVAN - The Estevan Church of God will celebrate the installation of its new lead pastor John Mohan and his wife Brenda during its weekly service on Feb. 18.

The Mohans assumed the full-time post on Nov. 1, 2023, after a vote to invite them to lead the congregation. The role had been vacant since the fall of 2021, after the resignation of Geoff and Helen Thiessen.

"Both of the Mohans bring extensive resumés of local church, non-profit and corporate leadership, yet are known for their personable and compassionate natures," states a news release for the installation. "Because they believe church attenders and irregular attenders largely share the same aspirations and struggles, they have designed their ministries, including Sunday message topics, to be encouraging and build lives, no matter what the 'scars and skeletons' are.

"The congregation has appreciated their maturity, organizational wisdom and approachability. Conversely, the Mohans have appreciated the congregation’s support and care."

Empty nesters, they relocated from Moose Jaw where Brenda worked as an office manager and John owned and operated a construction-related company.

The installation service will be officiated by Church of God Western Canada bishop Larry Hasmatali, who will also be the morning speaker, addressing the topic of Can I Recover from the Mess I’ve Made, a message about the hope and steps of getting past our past.

Community members and friends of the Estevan Church of God are invited to attend the service, starting at 10:30 a.m. Child care and a program are offered.
