ESTEVAN — The Estevan Fire Rescue Service's members were called to a wildland fire at about 3 a.m. on May 6.

The fire occurred southeast of the city along the Shand Access Road.

Crews responded and extinguished the fire. No injuries or property damage was reported. Firefighters were at the scene for about three hours. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Estevan Fire Chief Rick Davies noted the fire was a decent size for the early morning, when vegetation is damper.

"It was surprising, especially at three in the morning when it's damp and you don't expect anything really burning, but it was a fair size. But we were able to get in and knock it down pretty quick," Davies said.

Last week incident command also dealt with three separate fire alarms, which were all confirmed to be false. Firefighters' assistance wasn't required.
