ESTEVAN - Students at Spruce Ridge School in Estevan were treated to a visit by three-time world champion hoop dancer Dallas Arcand on Monday.

Arcand delivered an Indigenous-style hoop dance show for the kids. He also incorporated drumming and singing, native flute playing, a discussion on topics involving Indigenous history, and cultural origins presentation to entertain and inform.

He is also a keynote speaker, workshop presenter, storyteller and musician from Edmonton. Throughout his 25-year career, he has earned numerous accolades.

In early 2018, Arcand released a documentary called Hoop Life, showcasing and sharing his story, along with the history and art of hoop dancing.

He also showcased his skills on Sunday at Westview School as part of the Estevan Arts Council's Koncerts for Kids series.

Arcand's visit to Estevan was part of a tour of Saskatchewan through the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils.
