SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - School in southeast Saskatchewan will be impacted by job sanctions on Friday.

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation announced earlier this week that an impasse had been reached in bargaining with the provincial Government Trustee Bargaining Committee.

There will be school for all students in the South East Cornerstone Public School Division and the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division, but the STF has indicated there will be a one-day, province-wide withdrawal of noon-hour supervision on Friday.

This means there will be no classroom teachers supervising noon hours across SECPSD on Feb. 16. Supervision will be provided by non-teaching staff and parent/community members.

"We are asking families, if possible, to arrange to have their children go home for noon hour on that day. Though supervision is being provided it would be helpful to those who are filling the role to have fewer students than typical on this day," South East Cornerstone said in a message on its website.

"Further STF job action may impact our schools in the future. We understand that the STF intends to give 48 hours’ notice when announcing job action. We continue to be hopeful that a resolution will be reached and are supportive of the collective bargaining process."

SASKTODAY.ca will have updates on job action in the southeast and throughout the province.
