WEYBURN - The City of Weyburn continues its commitment to empower and engage local youth in shaping the future of their community through the Weyburn Youth Council.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2023-24 session, offering Grade 10-12 students at Weyburn Comprehensive School a unique opportunity to gain insight into municipal government and advocate for the concerns and ideas of Weyburn’s youth.

Youth Council members actively participate in City Council meetings, meet monthly to deliberate on significant community matters, and provide recommendations on specific municipal issues they identify as important to their interests.

Applications are open until Friday, Sept. 29 and are available on the City of Weyburn website at www.weyburn.ca/youth-council.

“City Council and staff highly value the perspectives of our local youth,” said Paige Tenbult, Communications Coordinator for the City and administrative support for Weyburn Youth Council.

“By offering a program like this, we provide an important platform that allows teenagers the chance to actively shape the future of their community.”
