Assiniboia council receives RCMP report, CAO updates at meeting

Assiniboia Town Council will only meet once in December, with their first meeting of the new year scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024.

ASSINIBOIA - Assiniboia Town Council gathered for a meeting on November 28.

Those present included: Mayor Sharon Schauenberg; Councillors: Robert Ellert, Kent Fettes, Peter Kordus, Renee Clermont (via zoom), and Graham Harvey; CAO Clint Mauthe; and Kerri Martin. Regrets was received from Coun. Patrick Grondin.

Public acknowledgements were given to the RCMP acting detachment commander, Corporal Leanne Lisoway, and the Assiniboia Times.

The agenda was adopted as presented. Moved by Fettes/Ellert.

The minutes of last council meeting of November 14 were accepted and adopted as presented. Moved by Clermont/Fettes.

The minutes of the Southland Co-op board meeting of September 21 were accepted and adopted as presented. Moved by Clermont/Fettes.

Corp. Lisoway gave the RCMP monthly report. No major concerns were reported in the community. Report was accepted as presented.   Moved by Kordus/Clermont.

Report given by CAO Clint Mauthe was accepted as presented. New Christmas lights for this year along with the new ones from last year look very nice on the streets. EMO has scheduled training for January 2024

Proposed upgrading of the windows for the Asaskan Complex will be added to the future planning.

Request for Decision from: land caveat removal – approved as presented. Moved by Ellert/Fettes.Reserve accounts was accepted as presented. Moved by Harvey/Clermont.

A discretionary development permit was approved for Golden South Daycare Centre Inc. Moved by Fettes/Clermont.

Reports were given by all councillors and mayor re meetings and events attended since last meeting. 

The next town council meeting will be Tuesday, December 12. They will only meet once in December, with their first meeting of the new year scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024.
